Baca: JOHN 14:1-14
Bacaan tahunan: LAMENTATIONS 3-5
One morning a father drove his daughter to school. Along the way, he stopped the car. There was a notice that the road was closed due to road repairs. "Dad, I can't go to school," said his daughter sadly. "Don't worry, dear!" her father smiled, "We can take another route." Sometimes we encounter obstacles on the way to our destination. It could be traffic jams or road repairs. The solution is to take another route. Because the road to our destination is not the only one. There are several other routes, and so far we have chosen one. Maybe because it's closer or more comfortable to drive or walk there. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life" (verse 6a). He declared Himself as the way to eternity. What's interesting are His following words, "No one comes to the Father except through Me" (verse 6b). It means there is only one way. A person can no longer choose one, but the only one. If one wishes to reach eternity, he must believe and accept Jesus as the Lord and Savior. Many people are on a journey, claiming to head towards eternity. The problem is, they are not going through Jesus as the way. Clearly, they are mistaken. Proverbs 14:12 reminds us that there is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. They think that way leads to eternity, whereas it leads to destruction. Our task is to tell them the truth about the only way. Do not let them wander and perish. Let us show them the right way. Let us introduce them to Jesus, the Lord and Savior. -LIN/www.renunganharian.net
