Have you ever heard the slogan "Only donors are allowed to regulate"? The meaning of this sentence is that only people who donate money are allowed to give suggestions or input. Donors are seen as competent and authoritative. In other words, no matter how good the input is, if it comes from someone who does not contribute financially, it does not need to be heard. This slogan is similar to the proverb "When there is money, there is love; when there is no money, love is gone.".
In line with this principle, Balak tried to ask Balaam to curse Israel by promising the highest reward. When Balaam refused, Balak even repeated his request several times. However, Balaam asserted that he would not betray the Lord. The temptation of wealth did not overcome Balaam's integrity. Not even a palace full of gold and silver could shake Balaam's conviction. As a servant of the Lord, Balaam chose to speak according to God's will, not his own or others' desires.
How about us, as individuals or in groups and organizations including in the church? Do we prioritize the principles of life that God teaches even if they feel unpleasant? Or do we choose to ignore truth and holiness in pursuit of gain? May we always be empowered to stand in righteousness, relying only on God's blessing. Not merely seeking profit and achievement to the extent of neglecting the principles of faith.
