Bacaan tahunan: Ezra 8-10
One of my wife's habits is that she always does whatever I ask no matter how tired she is. Once I was tired coming home late from out of town, my wife was also tired from taking care of the kids, I asked for a hot tea to be made. Despite being exhausted, I was still made tea. On another night, heavy rain fell. My wife asked for a traditional drink called 'wedang ronde' from our usual stall. Since that stall was not listed in the online application, I went out riding a motorcycle in the rain to buy it. Why do both of us still want to do things requested by our partner? Because of love.
In the parable of the two sons, one of the messages that Jesus conveyed is that those who believe do the will of God (verse 31). Not all of God's commands in the flesh we are willing to do, because we do not like them or they require sacrifices from us, or the results are enjoyed by others. We still want to do it because we believe in God, we want to please God's heart. Despite physical exhaustion, many problems, having to postpone certain pleasures or hobbies, we still want to love God through people around us who need to be loved, whether they ask directly or not.
When we love God, we think about and do what pleases God, even if it may not please us. We want to love someone, no matter how tired we are physically and spiritually. We remain faithful to obey His commands, even when conditions are difficult and full of pressure. --RTG/www.renunganharian.net
