My clothes and body were dirty from playing with the church youth in a retreat activity. Therefore, I decided to clean my body and change into new and clean clothes. That's why I had to take off the dirty clothes and replace them with new ones. Releasing the dirty and old, then replacing them with new and clean. There is an exchange that needs to be done.

Mark recorded Jesus' strong rebuke to Peter. Why? Because Peter chose a comfortable life and tried to save Jesus from the cross and suffering. Choosing to live in comfort and not doing the will of God is what's in Peter's heart. Jesus knew that to be obedient and follow the Father's will, he had to let go of his human desires for self-preservation and surrender his life to the Father's will. Therefore, Lord Jesus emphasized the condition of following Him, which is denying oneself and willingly carrying the cross. There is an exchange between the pleasures and comforts of life in the flesh with the willingness to submit and follow the Lord Jesus every day.

What about our lives today? Are we still holding on tightly to the old life full of the filth of sin? We should replace our old lives with new ones in Christ. Letting go of the desires of the flesh that go against Christ's desires, and replacing them with self-denial and carrying the cross every day. Are we willing to commit to Christ?
