Baca: John 21:20-25
Jesus answered, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me." (John 21:22)
Bacaan tahunan: Acts 5-7
Young children in Jakarta will dub his friend as "kepo" if his friend had "always wanted to know the affairs of others". Curiosity is actually very positive, because it will help someone to seek more knowledge. However, if the curiosity is excessive then the impact could be negative, because they interfere with the privacy of others.
The curiosity disease was also attack Peter. He wanted to know about John's life in the future. So, Jesus rebuked Peter, because what will happen to John is not the affair of Peter. The affair of Peter was following Jesus. God must care for John and know what's best for him. On the other hand, He also cares for Peter, but the way Jesus treated each of them can be different, because each person has their own uniqueness.
Upon the existence of such differences, God had a plan and will to everyone who believes in Him. God is not obligated to treat us just like He treats others. He is not obligated to bless us in the same manner as He blesses others. We do not need to fuss or bother with it. It is fully the sovereignty and authority of God. Our duty is only to make sure that we ourselves have been or are being followed Jesus in earnest. If we follow Him seriously, we will not have time to think about how he treats the people around us. That is not our business. Let's just think about how we can follow Him more closely - Eno
