THERE IS TIME TO GIVE UP

Baca: Jeremiah 27

This is what the LORD said to me: "Make a yoke out of straps and crossbars and put it on your neck" (Jeremiah 27:2)

Bacaan tahunan: Acts 1-4

Josh hit the nape of the man unconscious. He was forced to do so because the man is continued to struggle and make it difficult to be helped in the evacuation at sea. When he is made helpless, Josh could embrace his neck and swam him to shore.

Today's reading is suprisingly tells us that there is a time to surrender, to submit yourself to people who may not be our friend, even an enemy that would take our rights. Of all God wills it. Axle wood in the neck of Jeremiah is the picture. Jeremiah was asked to tell a neighbor that the kings of the whole country has been delivered into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, and they must submit to him in order not to die by the sword, famine, disease. This also applies to Judah which was ruled by King Zedekiah. It is a difficult and unpleasant command to do, especially by people who "stiff-necked".

There may be times we ask; why God put us in a position of helplessness, why the Lord seemed to hurt our ego and do not let us get up. Learning from the story of marine evacuation carried out by Josh, there are times when powerlessness helps us to be saved from greater dangers. Unfortunately, in the continuation of this passage, the kingdom of Judah would not give up until they expire at the end of the sword and captivity in Babylon.

We may be allowed by God to not powerless, but that does not mean God is without power. If we believe all things remain in God's control, we can learn to surrender to the will of God without fear and doubt - SL
