THE SUFFICIENCY OF GOD'S GRACE
18 June 2026
Read: 2 PETER 1:3-10
Bible in a year: Psalm 26-31
Imagine, a traveler is about to embark on a long and arduous journey. Surely, he not only needs a map, but also supplies, protection, and physical strength. Without all of these, the journey will seem impossible. This illustration helps us understand the life of believers who are walking towards maturity in faith amidst various challenges.
Apostle Peter wrote his letter to the congregation living in pressures and temptations. In verse 3, he asserts that divine power from God has granted us "everything we need for a godly life". It means, God does not send His people on a journey without supplies. What we need to live pleasing to Him, He has provided.
This emphasizes that spiritual growth is not about seeking new things outside of God. Instead, it is about living out what He has granted. Then, Peter urges the congregation to add to their faith virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, and love. All of these are not burdens, but responses of gratitude for the grace that has been previously granted.
It must be acknowledged, we often feel: inadequate, unwise, or weak in facing problems. Therefore, we are reminded that in the Lord, these shortcomings are not reasons to give up. For He has provided sufficient spiritual resources to face every season in our lives.
Let us stop doubting the sufficiency of God's grace. Believe and live out what He has granted. Surely, our lives will grow and impact others so that the Lord is glorified. --SAP/www.renunganharian.net

LIFE IS A GIFT, A SERIES OF OPPORTUNITIES TO DISCOVER GOODNESS IN OURSELVES AND OTHERS, AS LONG AS WE ARE WILLING.
