Praise the Lord! Because let praise Him, and fun to sing praises to him! (Psalm 147:1 NIV)
Bible in a year: Galatians 4-6
Singing is good for health. Singing trains the heart and lungs, and releases endorphins that make us feel happy. Singing also increases lung capacity, improve posture, and clean the respiratory tract and sinuses. If you sing it right, it can maintain a healthy stomach and back muscles. According to one study, singing can also increase the amount of protein in the immune system.
The Psalmist certainly agree with that. Even more than that, not only beneficial for health, he underlined that the singing is also good for our spiritual life. In the original language, the psalmist describes singing as well, fun, and beautiful. Either because it is one form of praise to God, a worship. God Himself and the central purpose of all our praise (verses 1, 7). Fun for bringing joy; praise and glorify the Lord will bring pleasure to the heavenly saints. Beautiful or worthy because it is only fitting we honor the Creator. As people created in His likeness and image, when we honor God, we really appreciate and are grateful for the favors of his life.
Hymn no doubt always present in worship with God's people. However, whether we personally are also developing a habit to sing praises to Him? How about starting today we are committed to at least sing a song of praise every day? - ARS
