Do you know who the Obadiah? There are at least eleven others of the same name that is mentioned in the Bible, but none has nothing to do with the shortest book of the old testament writers. There is no record about the origin. The only thing we know, God wills to convey his word through Obadiah. Contrast with the background of the author, the content of his talk about Edom, a nation great and famous, a descendant of Esau. There are a lot of smart people in Edom, as well as the heroes are strong (verses 8-9). However, God is not impressed and just judge them. Why?
Paragraph 3 mentions is why. Cavalier. Yes, feel great compared to Edom, Israel and other Nations. Like an Eagle that flew high, safe from the reach of man, he felt safe because of its superiority (paragraph 4). The arrogance of the obscure sense, making his senses could not see the limitations and necessity of God. See Edom, the Lord fed up. "I'm gonna lose you," his word.
