Baca: 1 SAMUEL 24
Bacaan tahunan: Revelation 13-16
A man came home from church looking gloomy. Earlier, Reverend quoted Deuteronomy 28:13, "You will always be at the top, never at the bottom." This man found that his business turnover this month was less than last month. "If God's promise is to always rise, then why am I 'falling' now," he said sadly.
Certainly, this man's understanding is wrong. Because if that were true, then halfway, David would also be disappointed in God. He would be sad when chased by Saul. Previously, he was 'rising'. He was anointed as king of Israel (1 Samuel 16:13). Next, he defeated the giant Goliath (1 Samuel 17:49-50). Then, he was appointed as a victorious military leader (1 Samuel 18:5). Then the situation turned 180 degrees. He ran and hid from one place to another. It was found that David continued to enthusiastically follow God, so he refused to harm the one anointed by God (verse 7). According to David's perspective, at that time he was also 'rising'. The reason being, he continued to stay within God's plan. God's plan always elevates human life upwards, even though the situation pushes it down. Like a car wheel moving from the valley to the mountaintop. When turning downwards, the wheel remains 'on top'.
The heaviness of pressure from the situation is not a sign that we are 'falling'. We keep rising if we continue to stay within God's plan. We have not shifted from the 'rising' position if we are still enthusiastic in following God. Remember this every time problems hit our lives. Instead of being disappointed, anticipate that God's help will surely be manifested for us.

THE UPS AND DOWNS OF LIFE DO NOT DEPEND ON THE PRESENCE OR ABSENCE OF DIFFICULTIES, BUT ON THE DECISION TO KEEP OR STOP FOLLOWING GOD
