DO NOT FORGET THE LORD!

Baca: DEUTERONOMY 8:11-14

Bacaan tahunan: Joshua 1-4

Success is a blessing, but also a test. Many people cry out to the Lord in difficult times, but forget to be grateful and hold on to Him when life starts to feel comfortable. Deuteronomy 8 advises the nation of Israel not to forget the Lord after they entered the Promised Land, enjoyed abundance, and succeeded.

The Lord knows that the human heart is easily drawn to comfort. When everything goes smoothly - stable job, peaceful family, sufficient finances - there is a great temptation to feel that we no longer need the Lord. We may become too busy enjoying the results, until we forget the Giver of blessings. Prosperity can make people feel they no longer need the Lord. However, it is precisely in times of success that we must cling more to the Lord. Not only because of the blessings we enjoy, but because He is the source of life. Without the Lord, all success will be empty and fragile. We are reminded that in times of success or abundance, we must remain grateful, humble, and aware that everything comes from the grace of God, not solely from our efforts.

Remember that true success is not just worldly achievements, but a life that remains faithful and obedient to the Lord in every season. Succeeding in life, but failing to rely on the Lord is the greatest loss. Let us learn from David, who said, "For everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all" (1 Chronicles 29:11). In every success, let us submit and be grateful, for it is only by His grace that we can stand. --DSK/www.renunganharian.net
