PERSEVERE FOR DECADES

Baca: 1 CHRONICLES 5

Bacaan tahunan: Jeremiah 38-41

It has been forty years working in the milkfish company, a driver told me while waiting for his boss's order to be prepared. He told me, since he graduated from junior high school, he joined the boss as a miscellaneous employee, then his position rose slightly as a warehouse staff. After a few years in the warehouse, he was trusted as a delivery man and a collector. After the boss's business was continued by his son, he was trusted as a personal driver. Next month, he will retire due to his age and wanting to take care of his grandchildren.

We are enthusiastic and praise people who have proven their loyalty in various things. When we look at ourselves, are we faithful in terms of faith in Jesus Christ? Not a few people start their faith with greatness, but because they do not maintain it correctly according to the word of God, they become weak in faith, deviate, and eventually change faith. This is what the tribe of Reuben, the tribe of Gad, and half of the tribe of Manasseh experienced. The Bible records them as great in war (verse 18). When they believed in the Lord, in the war, the Lord granted their requests (verse 20). But after being blessed, they changed their loyalty and committed adultery by following all the gods of the nations of the land that God had destroyed from before them (verse 25).

Challenges of faith in various forms can come at any time, so let us always guard our hearts. Whether in difficult times or in good times, our focus should remain on the Lord, we should remain faithful in carrying out His word. Let us remain faithful until the Lord calls us home.
