Baca: PHILIPPIANS 3
Bacaan tahunan: Job 14-16
Nowadays, many people are proud and compete to upload photos or stories on social media to show off their worldly achievements. The Apostle Paul stated that if anyone thinks they can rely on worldly things, he has more. However, what was once an advantage to him, he now considers a loss because of Christ. The Apostle Paul let go of everything and considered it rubbish in order to gain Christ.
A few months after my husband left his job at a well-known foreign bank and switched to full-time ministry, his boss called and invited him to rejoin to work on a project. There were doubts as at that time we were still adjusting economically with my husband's income no longer coming from the foreign bank. Thank God, we learned to consistently forget what is behind and focus on what is ahead. We decided not to accept the offer and continue to serve the Lord full-time.
Lot's wife was ordered to flee to save her life and not to look back, but she looked back and became a pillar of salt (Genesis 19:17, 26). Let us forget what is behind, not making worldly things that we have been proud of and pursued as our top priority and life goal. Let our minds not be solely focused on worldly matters, but direct ourselves towards what lies ahead and keep running towards the ultimate goal of victory, which is to live in heaven; that is why God calls us through Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:14, NIV). --IN/www.renunganharian.net
DO NOT DIRECT YOURSELF ONLY TO WORLDLY THINGS AND EARTHLY MATTERS, BUT DIRECT YOURSELF TO SPIRITUAL THINGS AND HEAVENLY MATTERS.
