Determination to Witness

Baca: JOHN 1:1-18

Bacaan tahunan: 2 Chronicles 13-17

John the Baptist's life becomes one of the interesting stories among the figures in the Bible, especially in the New Testament era. He not only became an important figure who paved the way for Jesus' coming into this world, but also reminded of a calling that is still relevant for every believer in this modern era: determination to witness about Jesus!

That's what John the Baptist did when God brought him into the world as the forerunner of Christ's coming. This was emphasized by Apostle John, as one of Jesus' disciples who carried a similar calling when he became one of Christ's Apostles. There is no command to "make people believe in Christ", but we are only commanded to witness, so that according to God's will, He can use us to save souls. Witnessing simply means telling about God's work, especially what we have personally experienced. Various ways can be taken, starting from oral language, writing, short videos, podcasts, radio broadcasts, short films, and many more.

For some believers, the call to witness may feel daunting, which can reduce the intention and determination to tell the Good News. We may also still feel the same fear. However, today let us remember every act of God that we have experienced, and allow the Holy Spirit to echo the call to witness in us again, so that it brings out the determination, "I must witness about Christ!" --GHJ/www.renunganharian.net
