CASTING THE NET

Baca: LUKE 5:1-11

Bacaan tahunan: Jeremiah 30-31

Every time he met someone new, a spiritual community leader always told his grievances. He felt concerned because fewer members were willing to actively unite. However, every time he received input and advice, he always replied, "Ah, I have done that before, but it didn't work."

What if Simon gave a similar answer to the Lord Jesus when He asked him to cast the net? Yes, Simon would never have caught a large number of fish. Fortunately, even though he had worked hard all night without results, he did not refuse Jesus' command. On the contrary, because Jesus told him to, he obeyed: willing to cast the net again. Simon was willing to repeat it because the Lord Jesus wanted it. Simon's obedience produced extraordinary results, to the point where he had to call another boat to come and help him.

Faith requires obedience. No matter how hard we have to struggle, God wants us to be obedient to Him. Without argument, without giving up, and without despair. Perhaps we are faced with a difficult, tiring, or even dangerous calling. Even though it is extremely difficult, persevering in carrying out tasks and doing our best is the responsibility of every believer. Even though disappointment is a possibility. Simon's experience teaches us that our part is to do the task the Lord gives us. Stay faithful in casting the net even though it seems like we are not immediately catching anything. Entrust the results to God alone.
