Baca: ACTS 16:13-15
Bacaan tahunan: 2 Chronicles 35-36
Paul and Silas, guided by God through a vision, went to the region of Macedonia. So they arrived in Philippi, the first city in Macedonia. Philippi was a Roman colony. On the Sabbath day, they looked for and found a place of worship for the Jews outside the city. They sat down and spoke with the women who were worshiping there, one of whom was Lydia, a seller of purple cloth, a quite expensive cloth at that time.
The Lord granted grace to Lydia so that she believed. However, she was not alone, she brought her whole household to be baptized. The salvation grace she received truly brought joy. As an expression of gratitude for that salvation, Lydia invited Paul and Silas to stay at her house. She didn't just casually ask, in fact, she pleaded and persuaded them. Welcoming Paul and Silas into her home certainly showed Lydia's hospitality, generosity, care, and sacrifice amidst her busy life as a businesswoman. Her kindness was very meaningful for the ministry of Paul and Silas in proclaiming the Gospel with all their limitations in a foreign land.
What actions do we take as a result of the salvation we have received? Lydia's actions are just one example. How is our attitude towards those around us who do not yet know Christ? How is our attitude towards those who have led us to know Christ? Let the salvation grace we have received be a blessing to others, not just for ourselves. --ANT/www.renunganharian.net
