Bacaan tahunan: Esther 1-5
When asking someone about their well-being, we usually hear the answer, "I'm fine." However, sometimes they might say, "I'm not doing well." At that moment, various possibilities may cross our minds about what is happening in that person's life. One thing in common, all of it is unpleasant. Maybe that person is suffering from an illness, facing a disaster, or dealing with problems.
God commanded Abraham to go to the land of Moriah, and then to offer Isaac there as a burnt offering. The next day, early in the morning, Abraham woke up to fulfill the command of the Lord. There was no argument, even though he would soon lose his only son. The reason was faith. After walking for three days, Abraham told the two servants who were with him to stay behind, while he and Isaac continued their journey. He gave them a message, in which two things he believed were written. First, Isaac would not die, so he said, "We will come back to you." The second thing he believed was written in the book of Hebrews, even if Isaac died, God was able to raise him back to life (see Heb. 11:19). In short, Abraham thought that everything would be alright.
Things are not always okay. Difficulties can suddenly arise. However, faith always declares that everything will be alright. Because faith always looks to the all-powerful God, who can do anything. If we hope for days of peaceful and joyful life, then faith is the most important thing we must have. --LIN/www.renunganharian.net
