Bil 35:1 TUHAN berfirman kepada Musa di dataran Moab di tepi sungai Yordan di dekat Yerikho:
Bil 35:2 "Perintahkanlah kepada orang Israel, supaya dari milik pusaka kepunyaannya diberikan mereka kota-kota kepada orang Lewi untuk didiami; juga haruslah kamu memberikan kepada orang Lewi tanah-tanah penggembalaan yang di sekeliling kota-kota itu.
Bil 35:3 Kota-kota itu akan menjadi kepunyaan mereka untuk didiami dan tanah-tanah penggembalaannya untuk hewan yang mereka miliki dan untuk segala ternak mereka yang lain.
Bil 35:4 Tanah-tanah penggembalaan kota-kota yang harus kamu berikan kepada orang Lewi itu ialah dari tembok kota ke luar seribu hasta berkeliling.
Bil 35:5 Di luar kota itu haruslah kamu mengukur dua ribu hasta di sisi timur dan dua ribu hasta di sisi selatan dan dua ribu hasta di sisi barat dan dua ribu hasta di sisi utara, sehingga kota itu berada di tengah-tengah; itulah bagi mereka tanah-tanah penggembalaan kota-kota.
Bil 35:6 Mengenai kota-kota yang harus kamu berikan kepada orang Lewi itu, ialah enam kota perlindungan yang harus kamu berikan, supaya orang pembunuh dapat melarikan diri ke sana; di samping itu haruslah kamu memberikan empat puluh dua kota.
Bil 35:7 Segala kota yang harus kamu berikan kepada orang Lewi itu berjumlah empat puluh delapan kota, semuanya dengan tanah-tanah penggembalaannya.
Bil 35:8 Mengenai kota-kota yang akan kamu berikan dari tanah milik orang Israel, dari suku yang banyak jumlahnya haruslah kamu ambil banyak, dan dari suku yang sedikit jumlahnya haruslah kamu ambil sedikit. Setiap suku harus memberikan dari kota-kotanya kepada orang Lewi sekadar milik pusaka yang dibagikan kepadanya."
Kota-kota perlindungan
Bil 35:9 TUHAN berfirman kepada Musa:
Bil 35:10 "Berbicaralah kepada orang Israel dan katakanlah kepada mereka: Apabila kamu menyeberangi sungai Yordan ke tanah Kanaan,
Bil 35:11 maka haruslah kamu memilih beberapa kota yang menjadi kota-kota perlindungan bagimu, supaya orang pembunuh yang telah membunuh seseorang dengan tidak sengaja dapat melarikan diri ke sana.
Bil 35:12 Kota-kota itu akan menjadi tempat perlindungan bagimu terhadap penuntut balas, supaya pembunuh jangan mati, sebelum ia dihadapkan kepada rapat umat untuk diadili.
Bil 35:13 Dan kota-kota yang kamu tentukan itu haruslah enam buah kota perlindungan bagimu.
Bil 35:14 Tiga kota harus kamu tentukan di seberang sungai Yordan sini dan tiga kota harus kamu tentukan di tanah Kanaan; semuanya kota-kota perlindungan.
Bil 35:15 Keenam kota itu haruslah menjadi tempat perlindungan bagi orang Israel dan bagi orang asing dan pendatang di tengah-tengahmu, supaya setiap orang yang telah membunuh seseorang dengan tidak sengaja dapat melarikan diri ke sana.
Bil 35:16 Tetapi jika ia membunuh orang itu dengan benda besi, sehingga orang itu mati, maka ia seorang pembunuh; pastilah pembunuh itu dibunuh.
Bil 35:17 Dan jika ia membunuh orang itu dengan batu di tangan yang mungkin menyebabkan matinya seseorang, sehingga orang itu mati, maka ia seorang pembunuh; pastilah pembunuh itu dibunuh.
Bil 35:18 Atau jika ia membunuh orang itu dengan benda kayu di tangan yang mungkin menyebabkan matinya seseorang, sehingga orang itu mati, maka ia seorang pembunuh; pastilah pembunuh itu dibunuh.
Bil 35:19 Penuntut darahlah yang harus membunuh pembunuh itu; pada waktu bertemu dengan dia ia harus membunuh dia.
Bil 35:20 Juga jika ia menumbuk orang itu karena benci atau melempar dia dengan sengaja, sehingga orang itu mati,
Bil 35:21 atau jika ia memukul dia dengan tangannya karena perasaan permusuhan, sehingga orang itu mati, maka pastilah si pemukul itu dibunuh; ia seorang pembunuh; penuntut darah harus membunuh pembunuh itu, pada waktu bertemu dengan dia.
Bil 35:22 Tetapi jika ia sekonyong-konyong menumbuk orang itu dengan tidak ada perasaan permusuhan, atau dengan tidak sengaja melemparkan sesuatu benda kepadanya,
Bil 35:23 atau dengan kurang ingat menjatuhkan kepada orang itu sesuatu batu yang mungkin menyebabkan matinya seseorang, sehingga orang itu mati, sedangkan dia tidak merasa bermusuh dengan orang itu dan juga tidak mengikhtiarkan celakanya,
Bil 35:24 maka haruslah rapat umat mengadili antara orang yang membunuh itu dan penuntut darah, menurut hukum-hukum ini,
Bil 35:25 dan haruslah rapat umat membebaskan pembunuh dari tangan penuntut darah, dan haruslah rapat umat mengembalikan dia ke kota perlindungan, ke tempat ia telah melarikan diri; di situlah ia harus tinggal sampai matinya imam besar yang telah diurapi dengan minyak yang kudus.
Bil 35:26 Tetapi jika terjadi bahwa pembunuh itu keluar dari batas kota perlindungan, tempat ia melarikan diri,
Bil 35:27 dan penuntut darah mendapat dia di luar batas kota perlindungannya, dan penuntut darah membunuh pembunuh itu, maka tidaklah ia berhutang darah,
Bil 35:28 sebab pembunuh itu wajib tinggal di kota perlindungan sampai matinya imam besar, tetapi sesudah matinya imam besar bolehlah pembunuh itu kembali ke tanah kepunyaannya sendiri.
Bil 35:29 Itulah semuanya yang harus menjadi ketetapan hukum bagimu turun-temurun di segala tempat kediamanmu.
Bil 35:30 Setiap orang yang telah membunuh seseorang haruslah dibunuh sebagai pembunuh menurut keterangan saksi-saksi, tetapi kalau hanya satu orang saksi saja tidak cukup untuk memberi keterangan terhadap seseorang dalam perkara hukuman mati.
Bil 35:31 Janganlah kamu menerima uang tebusan karena nyawa seorang pembunuh yang kesalahannya setimpal dengan hukuman mati, tetapi pastilah ia dibunuh.
Bil 35:32 Juga janganlah kamu menerima uang tebusan karena seseorang yang telah melarikan diri ke kota perlindungannya, supaya ia boleh kembali untuk diam di tanahnya sebelum matinya imam besar.
Bil 35:33 Jadi janganlah kamu mencemarkan negeri tempat tinggalmu, sebab darah itulah yang mencemarkan negeri itu, maka bagi negeri itu tidak dapat diadakan pendamaian oleh karena darah yang tertumpah di sana, kecuali dengan darah orang yang telah menumpahkannya.
Bil 35:34 Maka janganlah najiskan negeri tempat kedudukanmu, yang di tengah-tengahnya Aku diam, sebab Aku, TUHAN, diam di tengah-tengah orang Israel."
Num 35:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying,
Num 35:2 Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give also unto the Levites suburbs for the cities round about them.
Num 35:3 And the cities shall they have to dwell in; and the suburbs of them shall be for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.
Num 35:4 And the suburbs of the cities, which ye shall give unto the Levites, shall reach from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits round about.
Num 35:5 And ye shall measure from without the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits; and the city shall be in the midst: this shall be to them the suburbs of the cities.
Num 35:6 And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites there shall be six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall add forty and two cities.
Num 35:7 So all the cities which ye shall give to the Levites shall be forty and eight cities: them shall ye give with their suburbs.
Num 35:8 And the cities which ye shall give shall be of the possession of the children of Israel: from them that have many ye shall give many; but from them that have few ye shall give few: every one shall give of his cities unto the Levites according to his inheritance which he inheriteth.
Num 35:9 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Num 35:10 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come over Jordan into the land of Canaan;
Num 35:11 Then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which killeth any person at unawares.
Num 35:12 And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from the avenger; that the manslayer die not, until he stand before the congregation in judgment.
Num 35:13 And of these cities which ye shall give six cities shall ye have for refuge.
Num 35:14 Ye shall give three cities on this side Jordan, and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan, which shall be cities of refuge.
Num 35:15 These six cities shall be a refuge, both for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them: that every one that killeth any person unawares may flee thither.
Num 35:16 And if he smite him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.
Num 35:17 And if he smite him with throwing a stone, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.
Num 35:18 Or if he smite him with an hand weapon of wood, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.
Num 35:19 The revenger of blood himself shall slay the murderer: when he meeteth him, he shall slay him.
Num 35:20 But if he thrust him of hatred, or hurl at him by laying of wait, that he die;
Num 35:21 Or in enmity smite him with his hand, that he die: he that smote him shall surely be put to death; for he is a murderer: the revenger of blood shall slay the murderer, when he meeteth him.
Num 35:22 But if he thrust him suddenly without enmity, or have cast upon him any thing without laying of wait,
Num 35:23 Or with any stone, wherewith a man may die, seeing him not, and cast it upon him, that he die, and was not his enemy, neither sought his harm:
Num 35:24 Then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the revenger of blood according to these judgments:
Num 35:25 And the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hand of the revenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he was fled: and he shall abide in it unto the death of the high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil.
Num 35:26 But if the slayer shall at any time come without the border of the city of his refuge, whither he was fled;
Num 35:27 And the revenger of blood find him without the borders of the city of his refuge, and the revenger of blood kill the slayer; he shall not be guilty of blood:
Num 35:28 Because he should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest: but after the death of the high priest the slayer shall return into the land of his possession.
Num 35:29 So these things shall be for a statute of judgment unto you throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
Num 35:30 Whoso killeth any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses: but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die.
Num 35:31 Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death.
Num 35:32 And ye shall take no satisfaction for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.
Num 35:33 So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.
Num 35:34 Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit, wherein I dwell: for I the LORD dwell among the children of Israel.
