VALUE OF RESPECT

Baca: Deuteronomy 16:21-17:7

Bacaan tahunan: Genesis 35-37

Today, secondhand goods have become a buzz in the buying and selling world known as thrifting. Yes, importing secondhand clothes and reselling them. The secondhand clothes referred to are still wearable, which still have value to be sold. This shows that within a value, there is also respect.

God gives the foundation of life to His people by teaching them how to offer sacrifices to Him. God prohibits His people from offering blemished or defective animals, even considering them abominations. Certainly, God did not prohibit this without reason, because defects or defects are manifestations of value. A blemished or defective animal shows that the animal no longer has value. God does not want His people to offer something useless or worthless, because by doing so, it means humans do not respect God. That's why God calls it an abomination. God wants His people to prioritize Him and give the best to God. Because, for God, human life is very valuable, so God also desires the same attitude from His people.

The value that God desires from the offerings of His people is not something expensive or luxurious. God wants His people to give the best, which is done with full respect, as an expression of gratitude to Him. --ZDP/www.renunganharian.net
