TRULY ALIVE

Baca: JOHN 19:28-30

Bacaan tahunan: 1 Samuel 28-31

Humans are one of the living creatures that inhabit the earth. They sit, stand, walk, jump, or run. Humans are called "alive" because of the breath from their nostrils. Some people are observed to lack enthusiasm in living. The cause is despair. Maybe they have experienced the destruction of their household or the bankruptcy of their business. Or maybe they have heard a deadly disease verdict from the doctor. There is nothing pleasant to hope for in the future. It's as if they live as if dead. Just breathing through their nose, but no longer feeling enthusiastic while sitting, standing, walking, jumping, or running.

Similar to the condition of humans when falling into sin. They are engulfed in despair because all they see in front of them is death. Thanks be to God, He designed the work of salvation (see Gen. 3:15). God gave up Jesus Christ, His only Son, to come down to the world and bear all the sins of humanity by dying on the cross. From that cross, Jesus was heard crying out, "It is finished," which means the work of salvation from God has been accomplished. At that moment, humans felt truly alive. There is hope for something very pleasant to happen in the future, which is eternal life.

Death is the deepest pit of despair. However, Jesus has lifted us from there. It is impossible for Him not to have the ability to deliver us from the struggles of life. Realize this truth and return with enthusiasm. Whatever difficulties are happening now, just surrender them to the Lord in prayer. Expect the miracles that will surely be revealed by the Lord, and afterward, let us live truly alive. --LIN/www.renunganharian.net
