Baca: MARK 14:12-21
Bacaan tahunan: Judges 19-21
If you were asked, "Could you deny the Lord when you are forced to deny Him?" Can you confidently answer that you would never betray and deny your faith? If I were asked a similar question, I would hesitate to answer that I would not deny Jesus Christ. At most, I would say, "I hope I will not deny Him." It is very interesting that Jesus, at the last supper, stated that among the disciples who were eating with Him, one would betray Him. The disciples were immediately saddened. Then they asked Him, "Is it I, Lord?" This question shows the disciples' lack of confidence in themselves. Were they really not going to betray Jesus? What's even more interesting is that shortly after, Peter boldly made a statement. He said that he was the only one whose faith would not be shaken even if everyone else's faith was. At that moment, Jesus rebuked him, saying that Peter would deny Him three times before the rooster crows twice (verses 29-31). And that's what happened. The Apostle Paul also gives a warning. Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall (1 Corinthians 10:12). We are all fragile, no matter how confident we are that we have mature and strong faith. We must pray to the Lord every day to be strengthened by Him and be kept away from sin and betrayal. --HEM/www.renunganharian.net
