Bacaan tahunan: Leviticus 19-21
The invitation to share with others has certainly been echoed many times. Even this invitation never stops. This can show that there are still few people who realize the importance of sharing with others. Many people tend to see their own shortcomings rather than understand the suffering of others. When they share, they are afraid of their own lack.
As commanded by the Lord, Elijah went to a widow in Zarephath to receive bread from her. However, initially the widow was reluctant to make a piece of bread for Elijah, because all she had was her last provision. For the widow, she wanted to eat with her son for the last time before she died of starvation. She was afraid that if she shared with Elijah, she would not be able to enjoy eating with her son. Therefore, Elijah advised her not to be afraid and worry about her life, because the Lord Himself would provide for her life. Even though rationally, she would lack food if she shared with Elijah. However, Elijah showed that God's provision exceeds human understanding.
Fear and worry about our lack will blind us to see God's blessings. Let us realize that through His blessings, He fulfills our entire life. Therefore, do not be afraid of our lack, but share with others. For by sharing, we embody His life. --ZDP/www.renunganharian.net
