I HATE TO SEE IT

Baca: Isaiah 1:10-20

Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed.Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow. (Isaiah 1:17)

Bacaan tahunan: Exodus 25-27

Let's look with me. Countless church that stands these days, with a growing congregation. The more spectacular worship we often encounter. In it, the people cheering Christian worship of God's presence.

Let's look with Isaiah. What happens in heaven, while on earth, Jerusalem rejoice with costly offerings of sheep and cattle (verse 11) and regular festivals are fantastic (verses 13-14)? Ironic! Seeing all this, the Holy denounced with disgust (verses 11-14). "I hate to see it! Hands full of blood!" (verses 14-15). God of Judah, even equated with Sodom and Gomorrah (verse 10)! "This is the fault of Sodom ... arrogance, abundant food and the pleasure of living there with him and her daughters, but he did not help the poor and needy" (Ezekiel 16:49). God is not impressed with worship, celebration, or offering of a great but are full of hypocrisy. He growled. Although there is grandeur in the walls of houses of worship, misery and poverty is still entrenched in the outer wall (v. 17).

See, after all these years the church grew, not the condition of the people on the streets had not changed much? "Salt" is no longer salty; "light" low flame. Today, the message of Isaiah rebuked the people of God who feels himself was fine. There are two choices: obey and take part in the work of ministry in the world that He loved, or ignore the anxious heart for the umpteenth time with the risk of dealing directly with the awesomeness of His wrath (v. 20). - ZDK

"Where are we, when a lot of oppression; servants of darkness, the worshipers of convenience?"
