Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper. (Jeremiah 29:7)
Bacaan tahunan: Deuteronomy 21-23
Two young men are only accepted at the College of Negri (PTN) their final choice. Although disappointed they started college. The difference is, the first was "wasted" and just survive, while the second lecture as possible, because they believe God has a wonderful plan to get them out there. He became a student achievement nationwide, making both the campus and his parents proud.
God, through the prophet Jeremiah, asking his people in exile like the attitude of students choosing the second earlier. As a descendant of Abraham, the people of Israel have chosen to be blessed and bless all nations (cf. Gen 12:1-3). It is seventy years in Babylon is a punishment for their transgressions, but the design of God's blessings continue to be fulfilled in His time (verses 10-14). No wonder God sent them seek shalom in places they do not like it (verse 7). God wants them to live normal, even the most (vv. 4-6), as a form of testimony to his chosen people in the middle of a foreign nation. In the perspective of heaven, the people who discarded it actually was sent from God.
Just moved house, college, or work in places we do not like? As disciples of Christ, we have two choices attitude. First, we can say: "The place and people do not like this is not a promising future for me!" Second, we can say: "I will do best. God in this place, and he had a plan for my life, also the places and people who do not like about this through my life." The attitude which one you choose? - ICW
