Bacaan tahunan: 1 Samuel 15-17
In daily life, we may see people who are willing to take advantage in the midst of the limitations or weaknesses of others. There are also clever people, but instead they use their intelligence to deceive and harm others. Such things should not happen in our lives, as followers of Christ who have never been taught to take advantage of others in their weaknesses.
The truth of God's word today declares to us the extraordinary love of Christ. Christ is said to have died or sacrificed for us (on the cross), when we were still weak - in a helpless condition, still dominated by sin, and threatened with eternal death. Christ even willingly sacrificed Himself for the disobedient, who may not be grateful for God's goodness in their lives. Aren't most of us in an 'imperfect' condition when His loving hand reaches out to us, and we respond with repentance and belief in Him?
Through the example of Christ's sacrifice, we can learn the true meaning of love in action. Love that is shown tangibly for the good of others, even for those who are considered unworthy of love. So, through this example of Christ's love, we are also expected to be able to express love to others. May our lives be used by God to channel love to those who are waiting for the outpouring of God's love, whether through our words, attitudes, or actions so that the name of God be glorified. --GHJ/www.renunganharian.net
