REPENTANCE AND GREAT JOY

Read: Acts 2:41-47

Bible in a year: 2 Chronicles 28-31

Once, a well-known and influential man fell ill. According to his request, a servant of God was asked to come and pray for him. Before praying, he first preached about Jesus, who has power over all diseases. Long story short, after being prayed for, the man was healed. Witnessing the power of God, this man then repented. He and everyone in his village were baptized after witnessing the miraculous event.

A great repentance also occurred shortly after the Holy Spirit filled the believers in Jerusalem. Peter, filled with the Spirit of God, preached, testified, and challenged his listeners to repent and be baptized, as a sign of the sincerity of their repentance (Acts 2:38-40). As a result, about three thousand souls repented in one day. This event also serves as evidence of how extraordinary God's work is, through the power of the Holy Spirit touching human hearts to repent.

Repentance in large numbers indeed brings joy. However, do not overlook the repentance experienced by one or two individuals, because every repentance will make all of heaven rejoice! Also, remember the historical fact of life, where God touches human hearts in various ways, including in ways that were never imagined. Therefore, we need to be prepared every day, so that God can use us to bring souls to believe in Him. --GHJ/www.renunganharian.net
