HELP US!

Baca: ACTS 16:1-12

Bacaan tahunan: 2 Chronicles 32-34

One night, a man was walking home when he heard a faint voice from a narrow alley. He hesitated, but the voice became clearer, "Help ...." The man walked towards the voice and found an old man lying helpless. He immediately helped him. The old man cried and said, "Many people passed by, but only you heard and helped me."

Today's reading tells the story of Paul's second missionary journey. He met Timothy and invited him to join in the ministry. Along the way, Paul was prevented by the Holy Spirit several times from going to certain areas. Until he had a vision of a man from Macedonia crying out, "Help us!" The cry was not just a request, but a soul's cry thirsty for the Gospel, a cry for help. And Paul did not ignore it. He immediately changed his travel plans and went to Macedonia because he knew that the call came from the Lord (verse 10). They realized that if the Lord had spoken, they had to obey.

Around us today, there are many similar voices that we may hear clearly. We hear about lonely neighbors, coworkers in difficulty, or friends who have lost hope. They may not always say it directly, but their attitudes and expressions may be crying out, "Help me!" Are we sensitive? God often conveys His will through the needs of others. When we are willing to open our eyes and hearts, we are expressing the presence of God who answers their prayers. --SYS/www.renunganharian.net

SOMETIMES, GOD'S CALL TO US DOES NOT SOUND LIKE A VOICE FROM HEAVEN, BUT IN THE FORM OF THE NEEDS OF THE PEOPLE AROUND US.
