Bible in a year: 1 Kings 8-9
Habit is an action or behavior that is done repeatedly and becomes part of someone's routine. A habit can be negative or positive, and certainly has a significant impact on someone's life. Habits are not born instantly. It is not enough to be done only once, twice, or occasionally. No one suddenly becomes honest, diligent, friendly, or kind and possesses it as a character, if previously he behaved otherwise.
One of Jesus' habits is to enter the place of worship on the Sabbath. That is where the Jews gather to pray, read the Torah, and perform other religious rituals. In addition to being a place of worship, the house called a "synagogue" also serves as a center for social activities, education, and a place to strengthen social ties. In many stories in the Bible, Jesus often served in His ministry in synagogues in various cities. There, He often taught, as well as performed various miracles. His habit of regularly coming to the place of worship provided Him with many opportunities to teach the will of His Father to many people.
What are our habits? What routine things do we do repeatedly? Does that habit help us grow in knowing God more and become more effective in serving Him? Indeed, the best time to instill good habits is from a young age. However, no matter how old we are now, it is never too late to start good and noble habits that will give us the opportunity to spread God's love to many people. --HT/www.renunganharian.net
