The term overthinking has been used more frequently lately, including in communication on social media. This word means 'thinking about something excessively'. We spend too much time thinking about something in a harmful way. In other words, we become worried. As a result, we cannot live in the present moment peacefully and joyfully because something has occupied our attention. In essence, worry arises from our limitations in managing many things. We are very limited and do not know what the future holds. Interestingly, some surveys have shown that 85-90% of human worries never happen.
One good advice for us to follow is Carpe Diem, a Latin term which means 'seize the day'. This term is taken from a collection of poems entitled Odes by the Roman poet Horatius. The question is, how can we enjoy today and make good use of our time if we are consumed by worries?
Jesus gives us the answer. The solution to not worrying is by realizing God's care for us and by surrendering ourselves to Him. Because He is in control of everything. He also wants us to rejoice and enjoy the days He has given us. Of course, by working according to His word. Doing things that align with the values of the Kingdom of God on earth (cf. verse 33). Realizing that He holds full control over every aspect of our lives, we can fill our lives by doing His will. --HT/www.renunganharian.net
