Read: HEBREWS 10:19-25
Bible in a year: Genesis 19-21
In the early church era, being a follower of Christ was not just a matter of faith, but also of courage. Pressures from the Jewish community and intimidation from the Roman government always loomed over daily life. In such situations, some Christians chose to distance themselves from the community. They chose to be alone in order to gain spiritual strength. However, the writer of the book of Hebrews reminds us that it is in fellowship that spiritual strength is found.
Hebrews 10 teaches us that the Christian faith is not solely an individual experience. True faith grows in togetherness, in relationships that build each other up. We are called to "consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds" (verse 24). Fellowship is not just about the routine of worship, but a realm where love is strengthened, hope is restored, and faith is refreshed.
In this increasingly busy digital era, many people feel content with online worship or personal devotions. Yet, today's reading reminds us not to forsake "meeting together for worship". Our physical, soulful, and heartfelt presence in these gatherings shows our commitment to grow together.
Meetings for worship are not a burden, but a gift. It is where the Lord works through one another. When we are willing to attend, we are not only blessed, but also become a blessing. Let us faithfully attend these "meetings for worship". It is where we will all grow together in faith.
