WORSHIPER ACTS

Read: 1 CHRONICLES 16:28-36

Bible in a year: Revelation 1-3

In a briefing, the speaker asked, 'Who plays the roles of director, performer, and audience in church worship?' Some young people from various churches gave the same answer: The Director is the Lord, the performers are the worship servants, and the audience is the congregation.

Could their answers represent the facts that happen in the church? It would be unfortunate if the congregation is truly present just to watch and enjoy the performance of the worship servants. Likewise, if the worship servants perform their duties to show off their abilities for the praise and pleasure of the congregation, not for the glory of the Lord.

If in our daily lives we must always make every aspect of our lives, both thoughts and actions, a form of worship to the Lord, especially when we participate in worship rituals in the church building. Our presence as a congregation is to offer worship to the Lord. It is only right that we get involved, participate by praising, praying, listening to the word of God, responding, and offering ourselves. The entire congregation becomes worshiper acts that express devotion to the Lord.

David also gave meaning to worship as an active offering of the people to the Lord, not just a ritual or spectacle. This teaching is recorded in verse 29. David invites the people to acknowledge the existence of the God we worship by giving glory according to His name, bringing offerings in the form of a grateful heart and a surrendered life, and coming in holiness, which is a heart attitude that is worthy before the Lord.

WORSHIP IS NOT A SPECTACLE, BUT AN OFFERING FOR THE GLORY OF THE NAME OF THE LORD
