Read: ISAIAH 55:1-7
Bible in a year: Galatians 1-3
As believers, God is certainly the foundation of our lives. However, our life of faith is sometimes accompanied by our pride, by feeling that we can live our lives alone. Such an attitude cannot be done in our relationship with God. Because we are not surrendering to God, but instead relying on our own abilities.
Punishment is a form of punishment that God gave to the Israelites, because of their pride until they chose to leave God. Such a harsh punishment certainly felt very burdensome to the Israelites. Even so, God did not hate and retaliate by leaving them. Isaiah shows that even though God is angry, God always wants to meet them. This means, from the beginning God never left them, and always opened Himself to them. Through his words, Isaiah invites the Israelites to open their hearts so that they realize the presence of God for them, so that they are willing to return to live together with God and make God the foundation of their lives.
Pride will not produce anything but suffering because we cannot live our lives with our own abilities. Therefore, we are invited to always open our hearts to God and make Him the foundation of our lives. Because God always opens His heart to guide our steps.
