SINCE IN THE WOMB

Baca: LUKE 1:39-45

Bacaan tahunan: Galatians 4-6

It is not a new knowledge that since a certain age, a fetus in its mother's womb can respond to the surrounding sounds. That's why parents are encouraged to actively communicate with the fetus, for example by playing classical music. This action can enhance the baby's motor skills and help develop its emotional intelligence.

Elisabeth's experience when visited by Mary confirms this truth. When Mary greeted her, not only Elisabeth rejoiced, but the baby in her womb also leaped for joy. The baby who later became known as John the Baptist rejoiced upon hearing Mary's voice, who was then pregnant with Jesus Christ. Guided by the Holy Spirit (verse 41), Elisabeth understood that Mary was not carrying an ordinary baby, so she referred to her as "the mother of my Lord" (verse 43). This understanding made her rejoice, which was also felt by the fetus in her womb.

Realizing that babies in the womb can respond to their surroundings, everyone, especially parents, should pay attention to and ensure their comfort. Even though it's still very limited, they should know that they are precious creations of God and loved by Him. Parents should start guiding them to the truth so that they will become individuals who please God by doing His will in the future. This action is like laying a firm foundation so that they can stand firm in following the Lord and proclaiming His name.
