IMMANUEL

Read: JOHN 1:1-18

Bible in a year: 1 Corinthians 9-11

When some well-known figures in the Christian community visited me, I was deeply touched. They are figures that are not easy to meet. They are also difficult to reach. Nevertheless, I am grateful that I can get to know them personally. Their visit not only shows that they care and love me. They also pray for me, making me feel their presence very close and real. However, they cannot be present all the time. They are limited by space and time.

Unlike the Lord Jesus Christ. The Gospel of John states that He is the Word who was with God from the beginning. Through Him all things were made. His presence in the world is a light for mankind, although many do not know Him. But for those who receive Him, they are given the right to become children of God. From His fullness, we receive grace upon grace, namely salvation, hope, and endless love. Hallelujah!

What is truly amazing is that through Jesus Christ, we can know God. The God who was once unreachable, who was depicted as a consuming fire, is now present among us. God is no longer far and untouchable, but near and dwells with us. Indeed, He lives in our hearts continually. This is the true meaning of Immanuel: God is with us. This is not just a conceptual view, but a life-changing reality.
