Read: 1 KINGS 1:1-27
Bible in a year: John 19-21
A relative spoiled his only son. He allowed and never reproved or prohibited his son from doing whatever he wanted. His son grew up to be extravagant, unwilling to study and continue school, only wanting to play and have fun. It is very unfortunate, at a productive age his son died of illness due to living disorderly and recklessly. Adonijah, son of Haggith, exalted himself by saying, "I will be king." He prepared chariots and horsemen for himself and fifty men to run before him; while King David himself did not know. Even though King David had sworn to Bathsheba that their son named Solomon would be the king after David and he would sit on the throne. Throughout Adonijah's life, his father never reproved him by saying, "Why are you acting like this?" Surely no parent hopes their child grows up to be rebellious and defiant. Therefore, educate the young in the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it (Proverbs 22:6) and advise young men to be self-controlled in everything and set an example by doing good and being sincere and serious in our teaching (Titus 2:6-7). -IN/www.renunganharian.net
PARENTS MUST HAVE THE COURAGE TO REPROVE THEIR CHILDREN WHEN THEY DO THINGS THAT ARE NOT IN LINE WITH GOD'S WILL SO THAT THEIR CHILDREN DO NOT GROW UP TO BE REBELLIOUS
