DON'T BE LAZY

Baca: ROMANS 12:9-21

Bacaan tahunan: Acts 1-3

Have you ever found it difficult to get out of bed and start the day? Or felt reluctant to fulfill spiritual responsibilities such as reading the Bible, praying, or serving? In daily life, laziness often comes uninvited. It may seem comfortable at first, but in the end, it brings loss. Laziness is not only present in our physical lives, but it can also infect our spiritual lives. Spiritual laziness that is left unchecked can impact our relationship with God, hinder spiritual growth, and diminish our passion for serving.

After writing about solid teaching to the church in the city of Rome in his letter, starting from chapter 12, Paul is urging them to put into action what they understand in their daily lives. Laziness is not just a physical matter, but it can also attack our souls. Many believers lose their zeal, their spiritual life becomes lukewarm, and their ministry starts to lose its passion. Yet, God calls us to live diligently, full of zeal, and faithful in service. The Apostle Paul writes in Romans 12:11, "Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord." This verse is both a warning and an encouragement for us to rise from laziness and live with a burning zeal for the Lord.

A believer's life should not be lived lazily or half-heartedly. Today, let us examine our hearts, are we becoming lax? Is our spirit still burning with the love of God? Do not let laziness rob us of our calling. Rise up, be zealous, and serve the Lord with joy!
