Read: GENESIS 41:37-57
Bible in a year: Mark 15-16
The motivator shouted in front of all seminar participants, "Who aspires to be great people?" Instantly everyone raised their hands. "Now, who is ready to face great difficulties?" the motivator shouted again. Only a few participants raised their hands. "Oh, what a pity!" the motivator slapped his forehead, "Only a few of you will achieve those aspirations." Great people are born from great difficulties. This also applies to those recorded in the Bible. Let's take an example, namely Joseph. That day, after interpreting dreams, Joseph was appointed by Pharaoh as the second ruler of the land of Egypt (cf. 40). Joseph became a great man, and previously he also faced great difficulties. His own brothers sold him to a distant land as a slave (Gen. 37:28). His master's wife often tempted him to commit adultery, which he always refused. However, one day when he refused, the woman falsely accused him of misconduct, and he was then imprisoned (Gen. 39:17-20). In the face of all these difficulties, Joseph declared himself ready. His readiness was shown by diligently working every day, whether at his master's house or in prison, he always became a trusted person (Gen. 39:4, 22). Difficulties shape resilience and strength. No wonder that great people are born afterwards. Understanding this truth, let us not be discouraged if we are currently facing great difficulties. Following Joseph's example, let us continue to diligently do our part (work and pray). Realize that the hand of the Lord is shaping us to be "great people". When we finally emerge from difficulties, we will find ourselves stronger, wiser, and more faithful to God. -LIN/www.renunganharian.net
