TOO QUICK TO SPEAK

Baca: JOB 8

Bacaan tahunan: Mark 14

There is nothing wrong with Bildad's view that God, in all His ways, is just and right. However, Bildad actually does not fully understand what Job is going through. He is too eager to give his views and advice to Job. Yes, God cannot pervert justice and righteousness, but does that mean that those who are pure and honest are guaranteed to be spared from disaster? On the contrary, are those who experience various problems the ones who do not care about God?

The severe suffering that Job experienced was not caused by his relationship with God. His suffering occurred because of the work of Satan which God allowed to test Job's faith. Unfortunately, Bildad did not understand this, so he only saw one side that Job's suffering was due to sin. Surely Bildad would be wiser and less hasty if he could restrain himself a little to be more willing to listen, pay attention, and carefully investigate before drawing a conclusion.

May Bildad's experience be an important lesson for our lives not to rush to conclusions, or even judge those who are afflicted with justifications of our words. Let's learn to restrain ourselves. Learn to be willing to listen and understand the bad situations that someone is experiencing so that we do not speak too quickly with opinions that are actually wrong.

NOT ALL SUFFERING OCCURS BECAUSE OF SIN, IT MAY BE ALLOWED BY GOD TO TEST SOMEONE'S FAITH
