Read: 2 CORINTHIANS 4
Bible in a year: Matthew 27-28
Aging is a moment eagerly awaited in youth. However, for those entering old age, it is not uncommon to start feeling anxious as they notice signs of physical weakness or decline. Diseases start to emerge, the body is not as strong as before, and medical services become a place that is increasingly visited for treatment. How can believers prepare themselves for the coming of that time?
Today's reflection reminds us about the limitations of humans, which will decline as age increases. However, this fact of life should not intimidate us because there is another aspect that can still be renewed: the spiritual or inner self. Without neglecting the importance of taking care of ourselves and maintaining mental health, we should not overlook the condition of our inner selves. Strengthen it through fellowship with the Lord, reading and believing in the truth of His word, and directing our lives towards eternity.
Remember that no matter how hard humans try to eliminate signs of aging, the decline of physical humans cannot actually be avoided. But before it's too late, let us start paying attention to the strength of the inner self, while remembering that what is seen is temporary, while what is unseen is eternal (verse 18). Starting today, let us pay more attention to strengthening the inner self, because that is what we will bring when facing God as preparation to enter eternity.
