LONELINESS

Baca: PHILIPPIANS 2:1-11

Bacaan tahunan: Matthew 26

One of the factors causing the phenomenon of suicide is loneliness and social isolation. Even though loneliness is not always the cause of suicide, it is recognized that in some regions with remote geographical conditions, their residents feel isolated, especially for the elderly or those left behind by their families.

In Christ, there is advice, there is comforting love, there is fellowship of the Spirit, there is tender love and compassion (verse 1). All of these are works and examples that Christ has done for us, the people who believe in Him. When all of that is not manifested, then the unity among human beings is actually only a superficial unity. In fact, many associations are only based on the common interests, the similarity of the ego of each member.

As Paul's advice to the congregation in Philippi, Christians should have unity as brothers and sisters in faith. There is healthiness, directing the heart and mind towards Christ together. Living based on His word and one love. Loving one another as we love ourselves. Getting rid of egocentric and individualistic traits. Therefore, instead of prioritizing oneself, let us care for each other. Meaning, reciprocating in goodness and love. Not only being pleased to be heard, but also willing to listen. Not only willing to receive, but also willing to share. Thus, no one is lonely and alone in facing struggles.
