Baca: PSALM 118
Bacaan tahunan: Matthew 24-25
At the age of 96, Richard Soller from the United States is still enthusiastic about participating in a 5K race with his friends at the National Senior Games, after previously winning a gold medal. Not struggling with any illnesses and still very motivated to pursue various goals, however, he chooses to stay active rather than just sitting still so that his days are meaningful.
In the Lord alone there is true joy. No matter how heavy our struggles are and how limited our strength is in fact, our days with Him will always be passionate, just like the Psalmist who experienced the goodness of the Lord in the midst of his distress. Even though we, the elderly, may seem exhausted and worn out according to most people's assumptions, when His joy fills our hearts, we will surely find the right way to spend our time so that we are not just passing the days, but day by day we can live with enthusiasm.
The shadows of darkness that usually haunt the elderly will not affect us at all because if the Lord is with us, He will always inspire us, also provide the strength and comfort that we need. Thus, every day our hearts will be filled with indescribable joy until we no longer think about our age.
