OWNED BY THE LORD

Read: 2 CORINTHIANS 8:1-15

Bible in a year: Matthew 7-8

I know a man who loves to help others. He regularly shares a portion of his belongings with anyone in need. His habit is to come suddenly, so as not to inconvenience the host, he said. In a conversation, I asked about his motivation for doing that habit. He replied, 'All of my belongings are owned by the Lord. I am just a steward. I have to manage those belongings according to the will of the One who owns them. Besides, I belong to Him as well. He will not let me lack because He will always sustain my life.'

To the church in Corinth, Paul testified about the exemplary faith of the Macedonian church. The Macedonian church has a willingness to give even though they themselves are in various sufferings. Their giving even exceeded their ability. How did they cultivate such generosity? First, the Macedonian church gave themselves to God.

Giving oneself to the Lord means humbling oneself to obey all His will. Leaving all desires and selfish desires. This is the basic foundation that every believer should build. Surrendering oneself completely to the Lord also enables us to realize that everything we have belongs to Him. Therefore, giving oneself to the Lord will be followed by willingness, even a longing to give all our belongings for the work of the Lord. Because, when we use our belongings, we are actually giving to the Lord His own possession.

ALL OF OUR BELONGINGS ARE OWNED BY THE LORD. USING THEM FOR THE WORK OF THE LORD IS LIKE GIVING TO THE LORD HIS OWN POSSESSION.
