Bacaan tahunan: Matthew 9-10
The longer I follow Christ, the more I realize that the teachings of the Great Teacher are indeed different. The teachings that feel like the world will never give because this world operates in a way that contradicts the truth that comes from heaven. However, we also need to realize that following the teachings of Jesus is not as easy as imagined, because in many matters, Jesus' teachings require obedience even though it is difficult to live out. In the series of teachings on the hill, Jesus began His teaching by saying, 'But I say to you who listen to Me, I say...' (verse 27). Furthermore, there is a kind of hierarchical command that starts with the command to do good to enemies, followed by two other commands: bless those who curse and pray for those who do evil. It is truly not easy to carry out these three commands in normal conditions because humans still have the desire to retaliate, or at least reluctant to expect good things to those who hate or intend to harm us. Once again, practicing the teachings of the Lord Jesus also means being willing to obey whatever He teaches and wants, no matter how difficult the teaching may be, which may tend to want us to avoid as believers. However, today He wants us to be able to respond appropriately to those who may be hating, cursing, or doing evil to us. How firm are we in saying, 'Yes, Lord,' as a sign of our sincerity?
BEING INTERESTED IN LISTENING TO THE TEACHINGS OF JESUS IS A GOOD THING, BUT IT IS EVEN BETTER WHEN WE BEGIN TO LIVE OUT THIS TEACHING
