Read: James 5: 1-6
"So now ye rich men, menangislah and wail over that overwrites your miserable!" (James 5: 1)
Bible in a year: Proverbs 27-29
You've heard the song Yoshioka, entitled Bento? The song lyrics describe a man named Bento with home real estate, car lots, and abundant treasures. A "boss Executive and above board". J'aurais mendendangkan that song as social criticism, because of the rich are evil bosses, corrupt, and grab the treasures by getting rid of the poor. Song by Iwan is a criticism of the authorities at that time, a warning about wealth.
Warning about any wealth to the attention of the Apostle James. The warning is so hard: the rich people would cry and wail because of the piles of their property will be destroyed (vv. 1-2). It seems in the Church which became the goal of the epistle of James, there is a gap between the very rich and the very poor (see 1: 9-11; 2: 1-4). Of course, being a Christian rich is not wrong. Be wrong if, as highlighted James, rich people are piling up wealth for himself (v. 2-3), even by way of oppressing workers (paragraph 4), and live in the luxury of the vain (v. 5), first destroying the lives of the righteous (verse 6). Wealth into grief for the heart of God when we grab it the wrong way and the wrong destination.
How do we treat the wealth? Carefully, so as not to pile up treasures on Earth, are motivation based on the Scriptures. Moreover, in a way that is not pure. All will only arouse the wrath of our heavenly father. Let's reflect on and keep yourself to become a disciple of the Lord is berintegritas and can be trusted in terms of assets. -HIM
