What do we expect when attending worship or when inviting a minister to speak at our event? Perhaps we expect to hear such nice things such as that God loves us, that our disease will be cured soon, our problem is resolved soon, God's blessings are always abundant for us.

Of course all of that good wishes were not wrong. But let us remember, God's intentions are not always delivered in a way that we like. His word is not to please our ears alone, but to bring us closer to Him and understand His purpose. In the days of Zedekiah king of Judah, Jeremiah and Hananiah both became the prophet who speak the word of God. Jeremiah and the predecessor's prophets had prophesied about the disposal of its people to Babylon, while the prophet Hananiah convey the opposite, which is about the end of exile. Certainly these words are prefer to be listened to. Unfortunately, it does not come from God. Hananiah the prophet were punished.

Sweet words really fun to be listened to, while a reprimand or warning often make the ears become hot. But sometimes things that are not pleasant to be heard is needed for our good. So, if we are the people who trust to deliver the word of God, convey a message not to please the listener, but to please God. If we are the listeners, we need to learn to listen carefully what God's want and not just choose what pleased us - SL
