ANCHOR FOR THE SOUL

Baca: Hebrews 6:9-20

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain... (Hebrews 6:19)

Bacaan tahunan: Exodus 19-21

Who is not afraid when I have to face a great storm at sea? Winds and large waves can make boat we were riding into aground. At times like that's an anchor or anchors lowered to the seabed. Anchor size is obviously very small compared to the size of the vessel, but its role is very large to hold the ship from the brunt of the waves.

The Bible likens hope to God as an anchor. With the anchor that people can survive in the storm of uncertainty of life. As the experience of Abraham. His wife had menopause and she also was so old. Could he be able to get descent as promised God? The long wait is like a storm that could shake the faith of Abraham. But the Bible records, Abraham waited patiently (v. 15). Why? Because Abraham knew Who is he to put their hope (verses 16-18). The writer of Hebrews encourages God's people began to waver his faith to have hope so (verses 11-12).

Our God is a God who always keeps his promises. He never lied. Do we really put our hope in Him? Waiting is indeed an unpleasant job, but the waiting is the proof sincerity of faith and hope to the Person who gave the promise. Do not try to answer the struggle in our own way. Do not ever leave our hope in the Lord. Hope's anchor for the soul, which will keep us not waver swayed the storms of life. - VT

We can look forward to the promises of God Because we know the One who promised faithfully
