ACCOMPANYING ONE ANOTHER

Baca: MATTHEW 5:38-42

Bacaan tahunan: Exodus 13-15

Life is a journey, and loving one another is accompanying each other on that journey. Using a parable, the Lord said, "If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles." What is the Lord trying to say there?

About loving one another.

First, love does not discriminate. If someone needs help, and we indeed have what they need, we are called to help, whoever they are. Yes, whoever they are. Someone's identity should not be a reason not to help.

Second, love is generous. It does not consider profit or loss, does not count how much has been given or how much will be received. A loving heart only thinks about how love can be manifested. It not only gives joyfully, but even gives more than asked for. Be generous. If someone asks you to accompany them for one mile, accompany them for two miles. If an old lady asks you to help her cross the street, don't just hold her hand and help her cross, but also bring her shopping bags.

And finally, loving one another is walking alongside each other, that is, taking real action to help one another, especially in the difficult times of life: accompanying the lonely, comforting the wounded heart, supporting the heavy burdened, and so on. Loving one another is accompanying each other in the ups and downs of life, especially when the road is slippery and heavy rain pours down. --EE/www.renunganharian.net

THE FURTHER WE ACCOMPANY ONE ANOTHER, THE GREATER OUR LOVE FOR THEM.
