Baca: 2 CHRONICLES 12
Bacaan tahunan: Exodus 10-12
For some people, admitting a mistake is very difficult. Reluctance to admit the mistake is partly due to the self-esteem they maintain. Therefore, they will feel very ashamed when the mistake is revealed. However, such an attitude will not bring about change and development in our lives. Because we never want to learn from our mistakes.
Rehoboam ruled over the people of Israel and made the kingdom of Israel strong and firm. However, in his reign, the people of Israel also faced the threat of destruction because they abandoned the law of the Lord. Various nations attacked them, even managed to capture the fortified cities of Judah and approached Jerusalem. However, Rehoboam and the leaders of the people of Israel were not ashamed when the prophet Shemaiah rebuked them. Instead, they accepted the rebuke and dared to humble themselves to admit their mistakes, by acknowledging that the Lord is righteous. It means, they showed that mistakes are not meant to be hidden, but to be corrected by changing their way of life. With such an attitude, then the Lord gave them life (verse 12-13).
Mistakes are not shameful to admit because no one is without mistakes. By admitting mistakes, we will be encouraged to always improve ourselves and become better. Our lives can also develop further, because it is the Lord Himself who guides us. --ZDP/www.renunganharian.net
