One of my favorite songs is that God is the Strength of My Heart by Don Moen, which in the Indonesian language translated as God's source of my strength. This song composed from Psalm 73:25-26. I am happy to sing the chorus: "God is the strength of my heart(3x) and my portion forever, forever", but often had difficulty singing the first two sentences: "Whom have I in heaven but You. There is nothing on earth I desire beside You..." I can not lie in the presence of God. Many times the Lord alone is not enough. My heart had a lot of other desires. As Asaph.

Asaph could not lie to God. He wants a lot of things that everyone else (verses 3-5). As a result, he began to feel that life is dedicated to the Lord's troublesome, foolish, and futile (vv. 13-14, 21-22). He knows that he should not be so, but it was hard to understand why God did not allow any desires fulfilled, or at least close thanks to the wicked (vv. 15-16).

Want something other than God was horrible. Unfortunately, if we examine ourselves, that's the tendency of our hearts. Asaph finally realize the goodness of God that prevented his "adultery away from the Lord" (verse 27), by not giving him another person who had the luck he is jealous. Is there a su atu or someone that we want more of God in our life hi? My prayer, Lord inclining my heart in such a way that nothing else is more interesting and satisfying my heart more than his presence. Let this be your prayer too. - ELS
