SNAKES AND FROGS

Baca: Galatians 5:1-6:2

Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2)

Bacaan tahunan: Luke 8-11

At Brisbane Queensland floods at the end of 2010, Armin Gerlach, a news service technician managed to capture a rare moment, the recorded images on the friendship of a green frog that gets a ride in the back of a brown snake swimming across a pool of water due to flooding. Is not a snake usually devour a frog as prey? However, when the disaster strikes, two animals were able to put aside all differences between them, so that the strong gave himself to save the weak.

As a more noble creature, man ought to be more than that. But in reality, many people is living to satisfy their flesh, until bite, devour and destroy each other (verse 15). Therefore, Paul reminds us that we have been freed from the bondage of sin by the atonement of Christ (5:1). So, lest we turn again to the old life (verses 16-21). Every believer must live out the essence of his new life, the life in the Spirit and led by the Spirit (verse 25) in order to produce fruit of the Spirit (verses 22-23). How to live by the Spirit is manifested in the relationships among the faithful, so that life can produce the fruit of the Spirit to bless others and glorify God?

Remember and apply this Word as a practical guide to the daily life: "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2). As a person who has been freed from sin by Christ, may we life far from being selfish, full of envy, bite and devour each other - SST
